Africa Startup Initiative Program a subsidiary of the Telecel Group has partnered with for the launch of the Africa Startup Initiative Program Accelerator.

ASIP hopes to attract Africa’s most talented entrepreneurs operating in the fields of technology and telecom while helping them scale. The partnerships with Startupbootcamp AfriTech will give early-stage startups across the continent access to this leading African accelerator.

SBC operates on the Corporate Startup Collaboration CSC model. ASIP alongside a group of corporate investors is also trying to join the program. Ecommerce, InsureTech, CleanTech, AgriTech, FinTech, and Digital Health are the main industry verticals as of now.

As one of the key partners, Telecel will give the participating startups access to markets through their continent-wide mobile services. The door remains open for other corporate members to join the consortium and add more value to the startups.

Founding partners will have access to the top disruptive startups on the continent. For instance, founding partners who took part in the first cohort by  SBC AfriTech Accelerator engaged over 60 pilots, POC’s, and commercial contracts with 29 startups within the last 3 years. They were shortlisted from over 4500 applicants across 80 countries. 90% of the alumni are still growing and operating and 40% have raised investment rounds.

The ASIP Accelerator Program powers  Startupbootcamp AfriTech which plans to begin scouting for startups next month. 10 startups will eventually participate in the 3-month long ASIP accelerator program.
